Qué frío hace hoy!!! Se acerca el invierno (ya sé que he dicho esta frase antes, pero me encanta). La tarde de hoy era idónea para pasarla tumbada en el sofá, viendo una peli y tomando chocolate caliente. Pero nada más lejos de la realidad.

Hoy he ido a Wimbledon con unas amigas y por fin he probado la comida thai. Estaba muy buena, y me he llenado. Mi plato de noodles con pollo tenía un nombre muy atractivo, pero ya no lo recuerdo :D

Una pregunta que os quiero hacer: ¿es demasiado British tomar té con las comidas? Porque mi amiga Jinhee lo hace y yo me lo estoy planteando. En realidad no me gusta el té, ni las infusiones en general, pero me las tomo por auto-obligación, ya que dicen que es bueno para la salud. ¿Quien sabe?

How cold is today!!! Winter is coming (I know I said this sentence before, but I love it). The afternoon was ideal to spend lying on the sofa, watching a movie and drinking hot chocolate. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Today I went to Wimbledon with a few friends and I finally tried Thai food. It was very good, and I was filled. My noddles with chicken dish had a very attractive name, but I don´t remind it :D

A question I want to ask: Is it too British have tes with meals? Because my friend Jinhee does it and I´m thinking. Actually, I don´t like tea, or infusion in general, but I have them for self-obligation, which they say is good for health. Who knows?

El miercoles estuve en el piso de una de mis amigas aquí y nos juntamos varias personas para hacer una cena internacional: sushi, comida taiwanesa, coreana y sangría. Pasamos un buen rato de risas y bromas :D

Last wednesday I was in my friend´s flat and we were with a few people to have a international dinner: sushi, Taiwanese and Korean food and sangría. We spent a great time of laughs and jokes :D

Hace una semana fui con unas amigas a tomar un café y un cupcake. Hay dos cosas que os quiero decir sobre ellos. Primero, son super bonicos, eso no lo voy a negar, con sus decoraciones y sus colores (el que yo me tomé se llama Red Velvet, terciopelo rojo, por el color). 

Y segundo, no están tan buenos como parecen. La magdalena es una simple base de bizcocho que no sabe a nada, y el frosting, la crema de la parte superior es una mezcla de mantequilla o nata con un montón de azúcar glass. Acabas con una sobredosis de glucosa, y no te quedas tan a gusto como te gustaría.

Yo desde luego, no cambio cualquier dulce español por ninguno de los que he probado aquí...

One week ago, I went with a few friends to have coffe and cupcakes. There are two things about them I want to tell you. First of all, they are really cute, I don´t deny, with their decorations and colours (the one I had is called Red Velvet, because of the colour).

And second, they aren´t so good as they look like. The cake is a simple biscuit base which hasn´t got any special taste, and the frosting, the cream on top, is a mixture of butter or cream with a lot of sugar. You end up with a overdose of glucose, and you don´t feel as happy as you'd like.

Certaintly, I wouldn't change any Spanish sweet by any that I've tried here...  

No digo que de vez en cuando no vaya a comerme otro :P

Ayer hicimos una visita rápida a Notting Hill (por fin!!!!) y al mercado de Portobello, al que espero volver con más calma. Está lleno de puestos de antigüedades, además de los productos típicos, y varios vendedores de comida. 

Además, el barrio es muy bonito y pintoresco, con sus fachadas de colores. Ya me encantó cuando vi la película de Hugh Grant y Julia Roberts :D

Yesterday we made a quick visit to Notting Hill (finally!!!!) and Portobello Market, which I hope to return with more calm. It's full of antique stalls, typical products, and several food-sellers.

Also, the neighborhood is very nice and picturesque, with its colorful facades. I loved the film when I watched it, with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts :D

Para los que no lo sepáis, Londres está lleno de teatros, y asistir a una actuación es el pasatiempo favorito de los ingleses. Lo que más abundan son los musicales, y algunos de ellos llevan más de 25 años, como Los Miserables (yo estoy deseando ver El Rey León).

La foto de hoy es la fachada del teatro donde se representa Cantando Bajo la Lluvia, ya que así me he encontrado yo más de una vez desde que estoy aquí :D Me encanta pasear mientras cae la lluvia suavemente...

For those who don´t know, London has a lot of theaters, and attending a performance is the favorite pastime of the English people. Musicals are the most abundant, and some of them have been more than 25 years, as Les Miserables (I´m looking forward to see The Lion King).

The picture today is the facade of the theater where is performed Singing in the Rain, as well, I've found myself more than once since I got here :D I love walking in the rain as it falls softly...

No he estado en muchos mercados callejeros desde que estoy aquí (quitando Covent Garden y Camden Town, que no se parecen en nada a un mercado típico español), pero los que más a menudo visito son los de Wimbledon y Kingston. No he comprado nunca fruta ni hortalizas allí, ya que hacemos la compra en el supermercado, pero cuando me independice, y espero hacerlo algún día, son los mejores sitios para hacerlo, ya que suelen ser más baratos y a veces con más calidad.

Ayer en Kingston, aproveché para hacer algunas fotos del mercado, y es que simplemente la disposición de los productos y los carteles, ya hacen una imagen realmente bonita (o "bonica", que diría en murciano, jeje). Fotografiar hortalizas es una cosa de la que nunca me cansaré, porque solo los colores la hacen atractiva. A ver que os parece.

I´ve not been in many street markets since I arrived here (removing Covent Garden or Camden Town, which don´t look like a typical Spanish market), but I often visit the ones of Wimbledon and Kingston. I´ve never bought fruit or vegetables there, because we make our purchase on the supermarket, but when I live by myself, and I hope to one day, they are the best place to do it, because they're usually cheaper and sometimes more quality.

Yesterday, in Kingston, I had the opportunity to take a few pics of the market, and the provision of products and price cartels already make a really cute picture. Taking picture of vegetables is the kind of thing which I'll never get tired, because just the colors make it attractive. What do you think?

Hoy estuve de turismo en Kingston Upon Thyme, una villa cercana a Wimbledon. Es un lugar muy pintoresco, ya que si hace buen tiempo puedes pasear por la orilla del río y deleitarte con las vistas o simplemente admirar la arquitectura tradicional británica, que a mi me fascina. 

También ofrece muchas posibilidades para hacer compras y hay una variedad enorme de sitios donde comer o tomarte algo dulce. En general suele haber muuuucha gente, pero forma parte del encanto.

La foto de hoy la he hecho allí, y es posiblemente una de las fotos obligadas que hay que hacer si visitas Londres: las cabinas de teléfono que hacen efecto dominó. Están al final de High Street, no es difícil encontrarlas y hay cola de espera para hacerse la foto... No he conseguido encontrar quien tuvo la genial idea, pero en todo Londres venden postales y cuadros con esta imagen, así que yo quería la mía :P

Today I was sightseeing in Kingston Upon Thames, a villa near Wimbledon. It´s a very picturesque place, because if the weather is nice, you can walk along de riverside and delight with the sights or just admire the traditional British architecture that fascinates me.

It also offers a lot of possibilities for shopping and there are a huge variety of places to eat or have something sweet. Generally there are a maaaaaany people, but it´s part of the charm.

Today I took the picture there, and is possibly one of the photos required to take if you visit London: phone booths than make domino effect. They are at the end of High Street, it´s not difficult to find them, and there´s a line to take the photo... I've not managed to find who had the great idea, but in whole of London sold postcards and pictures with this image, so I wanted mine :P

A veces me asombro de las fotos que hago con mi cámara, y más si son de esas que hago a las 7:30 de la mañana, justo cuando los niños se van al cole, como esta que os enseño hoy. A veces en cuanto me quedo sola y veo que brilla el sol, salgo al jardín como una loca a fotografiar flores, árboles, arbustos y demás. Y la de hoy especialmente me ha gustado muchísimo por el degradado del cielo, la mezcla de rojos, marrones y dorados de las hojas, que además están muy bien enfocadas!!! No es por echarme flores, pero esta foto me ha salido de muerte, jajaja. Espero que os guste...

Sometimes I'm amazed at the photos I take with my camera, and more if they are the kind that I take at 7:30 a.m., just when the kids go to school, like the one I show you today. Sometimes when I'm alone and I see the sun shine, I go out to the garden like a crazy to photograph flowers, trees, shrubs and other things. And the picture today I really like especially by the degraded sky, the mixture of reds, browns and golds of the leaves, which are very well focused! I don´t want to blow my own trumpet, but this photo is great, jajaja. Hope you like ...

Esta mañana fue mi primera clase de yoga, y... no sé como decirlo... fue horrible!!! Me duelen todos los músculos del cuerpo. Estoy tan cansada que no sé como voy a terminar el día. Yo pensaba que el yoga era algo relajante, el saludo al sol, la postura del guerrero, y todas esas cosas que suenan tan místicas, pero ha sido más duro de lo que pensaba. No obstante, estoy deseando que llegue la semana que viene, porque me ha encantado :P

Ha habido momentos en los que creía que me iba al suelo, no solo por la falta de equilibrio, sino también porque era demasiado ejercicio físico, cabeza arriba y luego cabeza abajo, unos nudos de piernas y brazos, ufff... No sabría como describirlo. Menos mal que he desayunado como los campeones. Tostadas de mermelada de arándanos y frambuesas. Buenísimo.

This morning was my first yoga class, and... I don´t know how to say it... was horrible!!! I hurt every single muscle of my body. I´m so tired I don´t know how I´m going to end the day.  I thought yoga lessons were more relaxing, the sun salutation, warrior pose, and all that so mistic things, but it was harder than I thought. However, I´m wishing to arrive the next week, because I loved it :p

There have been times when I thougth I was going to fell down, not because of balance, but also because it was too physical exercise,  then head up and down, a few knots of legs and arms, phew... I wouldn´t know how to describe it. Luckily I had my breakfast as champions. Toasts of blueberry jam and raspberries. Delicious.

Con la llegada del otoño, también se va el sol. Eso es un gran problema cuando intentas hacer fotos medianamente bien, porque de repente todo es gris, plano y triste. No me malinterpretéis, me encanta este tiempo, pero no es el mas adecuado para la fotografía. Así que se me están acabando las imágenes de archivo, por eso, cada vez que veo unos rayos de sol entrando por la ventana, cojo mi cámara y me lanzo a las calles en busca de buenas tomas (que también es difícil, yo no soy experta, ni mucho menos).

With the arrival of autumn, the sun is also going. That's a big problem when you try to take photos fairly well, because suddenly everything is gray, flat and sad. Don't get me wrong, I love this time, but it´s not the most suitable for photography. So, I'm running out of picture file, so, every time I see a ray of sunshine coming through the window, pick my camera up and I go out to the streets in search of good shots (which is also difficult, I'm not expert, far from it).

El otoño ya ha llegado a Inglaterra en toda su esplendor. El suelo está lleno de hojas doradas, los arboles están empezando a pelarse, y el invierno cada vez está más cerca. El otoño es sin duda mi estación favorita del año. 

Y la imagen de hoy no podía ser más otoñal. Todo en esta fotografía me gusta: los colores, las formas, el recuerdo de las fiestas de Halloween, con la calabaza como protagonista... Además de que es mi hortaliza favorita, porque la puedes utilizar en recetas tanto dulces como saladas, y la podemos encontrar de mil formas y tamaños (también me gusta el maíz, claro). Simplemente me encanta esta foto.

Autumn has arrived in England in all its splendor. The floor is full of golden leaves, the trees are bare, and winter is coming closer. Fall is, by far, my favourite season of the year.

And the picture today couldn´t be more autumnal. I like everything in this photograph: the colours, shapes, the memory of Halloween parties, with pumpkin as the star... Plus, it´s my favourite vegetable, because you can use it in sweet and savory recipes, and we can find a thousand shapes and sizes (I like corn too, of course). Just I love this photo.

Sobre la foto de ayer (que no tenía ninguna gana de comentar, porque estaba muy cansada) solo deciros que fue posiblemente la imagen más divertida que he hecho en un par de meses, y me pareció perfecta para compartirla. Me encontré a ese grupo de escoceses nada más salir del metro en Covent Garden, y en cuanto vieron la cámara no dudaron en posar. Llevaban la fiesta encima, no hay más que verles la cara.

Ayer, a parte de Covent Garden, visité el cementerio de Londres (Highgate Cemetery), y la verdad, fue un poco decepcionante. Me lo esperaba más grande, y con cosas más interesantes. Sabíamos que ahí está enterrado Carl Marx, que tampoco es que sienta fervor por ese hombre, pero nos equivocamos de lado del cementerio, y en vez de meternos en el east, nos metimos en el west, pero un fallo lo tiene cualquiera.

Tomé algunas fotos, pero en realidad no había nada relevante.

About the photo from yesterday (I hadn´t got any desire to comment because I was very tired) just say that it was probably the funniest picture I've taken in a couple of months, and it seemed perfect to share. I found with this group of Scots just outside of Covent Garden tube, and when they saw the camera did not hesitate to pose. They carried the party over, no more than to see their faces.

Yesterday, apart from Covent Garden, We visited the cemetery of London (Highgate Cemetery), and the truth, it was a little disappointing.We expected bigger and more interesting things. We knew Carl Marx is buried there, that I don´t feel fervor for that man, but we were wrong side of the cemetery, and instead of getting into the east, we went into the west, but anyone has a fault.

I took some pictures, but really there was nothing relevant.

Había muchas estatuas de ángeles, la mayoría con más de un siglo de antigüedad, pero este me llamó más la atención por estar tumbado. No había visto ninguno así. Besos y abrazos.

Y hablando de mi mini-biblioteca, hoy os traigo mi tienda favorita de Wimbledon. Una librería, por supuesto.  De segunda mano, además. 

Según dicen tiene más de 50.000 libros en store, y de todas las temáticas que quieras. Por fuera no parece gran cosa, pero por dentro es alucinante. Es una casa convertida en tienda. Cada habitación pertenece a un genero: poesía, infantil, ficción, romance, investigación, crimen, terror, fantasía... Además que tiene libros de ediciones muy antiguas (esos son más caros, claro). 

And speaking about my mini-library, today  I want to show you my favourite shop of Wimbledon. A book-store, of course. Second-hand, also. 
As they say, they have more than 50.000 books in store, and all the themes and genres: poetry, children's, fiction, romance, investigation, crime, terror, fantasy... Besides having very old editions books (these are more expensive, of course).

Quien me conoce sabe de mi pasión y gusto por los libros. Si pudiese, estaría comprando libros todos los días. Siempre he dicho que mis lugares favoritos en el mundo son las bibliotecas, y con un libro en mis manos me olvido de todo lo demás. Soy capaz de releer una novela todas las veces que haga falta (creo que mi récord está en cinco veces, no estoy segura), a veces incluso nada más terminar una, empiezo otra vez con la misma (eso me suele pasar cuando un libro, que al principio no me enganchaba, acaba por sorprenderme tanto, que tengo la necesidad de retroceder y volver a crear una nueva primera impresión. Ainss, si es que no tengo remedio...).

Hecho muchísimo de menos mis libros de España. Mi estantería repleta de ellos, de todos los tamaños, colores, géneros, estilos y temática. Al menos ya tengo aquí la versión inglesa de mi libro favorito : Life of Pi (¿¿¿¿os he dicho ya que están apunto de sacar una película basada en este libro y que me muero por verla????). 

Pues eso. Que hoy os presento mi mini-biblioteca, la que estoy creando aquí. Todos los libros son de segunda mano, y eso me gusta aún más. Los que tengo ahora no me han costado ni £8. Y eso es lo que me gusta de aquí, que la cultura no es tan cara.

Who knows me knows about my passion and liking for books. If I can, I'd be buying books every day. I've always said that my favourite places are the libraries, and with a book in my hands I forget everything around me.  I´m able to re-read a novel all the times it takes (  I think my record is five times,  I´m not sure), sometimes just finish one, I start again with the same (that happens when a novel ends, which at the begining doesn´t hooked up me, and I´m so surprised, that I have the need to return and create a new first impression. Ainss, I have no choice...).

I miss a lot my books from Spain. My full shelf of them, of all sizes, colours, genre, style and type. At least I already have the English version of my favourite book: Life of Pi (have I told you that they are about to release a movie based on this book and I'm dying to watch it?)

That's it. Today I present you my mini-library, which I´m creating here. All are second-hand books, and I like that too much. They didn´t cost more than £8. And that I like that of living here, culture isn´t expensive.

Vivir en Londres me ha cambiado la vida, en muchos aspectos, y siempre a mejor. Por ejemplo, soy de mente más abierta, ahora que he vivido con personas que no conocía de nada, y que me tratan como a un miembro más de la familia; He conocido a gente de muchas nacionalidades alrededor del mundo, y he hablado con todos ellos; no me da miedo salir a la calle y dejarme ver, o hacerme de notar...

Son cosas insignificantes, pero vistas como las hubiera visto mi yo de hace 1 año, son cosas muy grandes, y pasos muy importantes en mi vida.

Mi forma de comportarme también ha cambiado. Soy más positiva y optimista. Difícilmente me enfado y lo veo todo con buen humor. A veces me sorprendo a mi misma, riéndome yo sola por la calle, simplemente porque me siento más yo misma que nunca, y eso es algo que estaba buscando desde hace mucho tiempo.

Y todo este rollo, para contaros que también me he vuelto más atrevida con mi forma de vestir, jeje. Hace una semana subí una foto mía con un collar. Pues bien. Ese es mi collar favorito, por dos razones: Primero porque me lo hice yo misma, este pasado verano. Y segundo, porque los abalorios y colgantes con los que está hecho, los he ido recolectando de aquí y allí. Las perlas con de una pulsera que me dio mi abuela, los pinchos dorados y los lazos me los dio mi hermana, y las cruces de oro son de mis padres, además de algunas cosas que tenía yo. Lo mezclé todo y este es el resultado. 

La idea original no es mía, vi uno parecido en un blog de moda y me dije "yo puedo hacer eso". Y lo hice. Espero que os guste.

Living in London has changed my life, in many ways, and always for the better. For example, I´m more open-minded, now I live with people who I didn´t know before, and they treat me like a member of the family; I've met people from a lot of countries around the world, and I speak with all of them; I´m not afraid to go out and to let see me, or get noticed...

They are little things, but seen as I had seen one year ago, they are big things and a very important step in my life.

My behavior has change, too. I´m more positive and optimistic. Hardly I get angry, and I see everything with good humor. Sometimes I surprise myself, laughing alone on the street, just because I feel more myself than ever, and that is something I was looking for long time.

And all this stuff, just to tell you that I've also become more daring with my dress, jeje, and I wear more weird things. A week ago I posted a photo of myself with a necklace. Well, that´s my favourite necklace, for two reasons: First, because I made myself, this past summer. And second, because the beads and pendants which it's made with, I collected here and there. Pearls from a bracelet that my grandma gave to me, the golden spikes and ties from my sister, and my parents´ golden crosses, plus some things I had. I mixed everything and this was the result.

The original idea isn't mine, I saw one like it in a fashion blog and I said "I can do that". And I did. Hope you like.

Hola!! 

Hoy he estado tomando el sol en el parque que hay frente a casa, y me he puesto a investigar los mandos de mi cámara de fotos. Es una compacta, no gran cosa, pero me gustan las fotos que salen de ella. Las de hoy no eran muy buenas, más que nada porque yo estaba hecha una perra y no tenía ganas de prestar mucha atención pero algo interesante sí que ha salido. Además, ya le estoy cogiendo el gusto a hacerme fotos yo misma. A ver que os parece : ) (Estaba acostada en un banco, por cierto...)

Hi there!

Today I was sunbathing in the park on front of my home, and I began to investigate the controls of my camera. It´s a compact, no big deal, but I like the pictures I take with it. Today, they weren´t very good, mostly because I was very lazy and I wasn´t really interested in what I was doing, but something has come out. Also, I already like taking photos of myself. What do you think?  : ) (I was lying on a bench, by the way...)

We are going to die...

Ayer me tropecé con esta reflexión, hecha por el científico británico Richard Dawkins, y me llamó tanto la atención, que quería hacer algo con ella. No es gran cosa, pero me sirve para compartirla con vosotros.

"Vamos a morir, y eso nos convierte en los afortunados. La mayoría de la gente no va a morir nunca, porque no va a nacer nunca. La gente que potencialmente podría haber estado aquí en mi lugar, pero que de hecho nunca verá la luz del día, supera con creces el número de granos de arena del Sáhara. Sin duda entre esos espíritus no nacidos, hay poetas más grandes que Keats, científicos más grandes que Newton. Sabemos esto porque el conjunto de personas que permite nuestro ADN, supera masivamente al conjunto de personas que existen. Primer día de octubre... "Se acerca el invierno", como diría un miembro de la casa Stark. Aquí sigue lloviendo y cada día hace más frio, pero nunca es mal momento para una imagen divertida.
Los gnomos de jardín siempre me han gustado, no para mi propia casa, pero siempre me han parecido graciosos. Y apostaría a que han ganado seguidores desde la película Amelie...
First day of october... "Winter is coming", as would say a member of House Stark. Here still raining and every day it´s colder than the day before, but never it´s bad moment for a funny picture.
I´ve always liked garden gnomes, not for my own house, but I've always found them very amusing. And I'd bet they have gained followers from the movie "Amelie" was released...

Los de la foto de hoy, los encontré en el jardín del templo budista que visité el fin de semana (entrada anterior), pero lo más extraño fueron los patos de plástico de colores. Aún así, siguen siendo entrañables.
The gnomes of the picture, I found them in the Buddhist temple I visited the last weekend (previous post), but the strangest thing are the colored plastic ducks. Even so, still remain endearing.
